Reflection is key to coaching—and resilience, too. As Adam Grant says, “Resilience isn’t about immunity to pain. It’s about finding the strength to withstand strain.” Taking time to reflect helps turn big challenges into manageable wins.
In fact, breaking big goals into small steps, as highlighted in “To Meet Big Goals, Think Small” 🏁🎯, can transform even the toughest journey into one you tackle with confidence—and maybe a smile 😁 – see below.
These ideas are at the core of my new Future Proof Mindset coaching programs. The first focuses on tackling burnout and boreout before they happen with practical strategies you can use immediately.

Quote of the Month
Adam Grant, the bestselling author of Give and Take and Think Again, reminds us that resilience is the key to thriving in challenging times. 💡 Here’s one of his nuggets of wisdom:
“You don’t build resilience by avoiding stress. You build it by leaning into discomfort and finding ways to adapt until your future self can handle it.”
Coaching and reflection work hand in hand to build resilience. Through guided reflection, coaching provides a safe space to explore challenges, identify patterns, and reframe setbacks, even as difficult as it sounds, see setbacks as opportunities for growth. By reflecting on experiences, setting up “process goals” with clear steps (see Marathon post), you can not only strengthen your resilience but also move forward with clarity and purpose.
Resilience grows when we face setbacks deliberately-and use them as steppingstones for growth. Like learning a new skill, it takes practice and intentionality—but every effort makes us stronger and increases our confidence, courage and sense of control.
